In this episode, Gary and Naren discuss PPO dental plans’ drawbacks and encourage listeners to consider Google as an alternative source for new patients. While PPO plans to connect patients to providers, they come at a steep cost, with providers giving up 45-50% of their revenue. Gary argues that relying on Google for patient acquisition could be a better alternative. Patients often turn to Google when looking for dental providers, and providers listed on PPO plans may still have to pay the high tax even if patients found them through Google. Takacs also highlights the importance of knowing what you’re writing off. Many providers enter contracted fees into practice management software rather than their usual fees, leaving them unaware of what they are losing. The episode includes an insurance write-off calculator to help providers estimate what they may write off.
